Ashworth College

I enrolled in their CDA program. I completed some work, but decided to cancel the day after because my company told me that this is not one of the colleges that they're partnered with, in order to get tuition reimbursement. In the policy, it states that if you cancel within the first 5 days, you will receive a 100% refund. I didn't receive a refund, and now they're trying to tell me that I owe them a balance of $130, WHAT? Keep in mind that I was on a payment plan for $599 (the total cost of the course), and had only made my first payment of $20. My next payment was due a month from then. Since I cancelled the course, I should not have to owe anything and I should have been submitted my refund of $20. I will be leaving every bad review about this company, as well as taking the proper precautions to sue them. THE WORST college and not even accredited, save your time and money!

I just recently completed the MOA certificate and took the NHA exam and passed it Ashworth paid for the NHA exam. I have no complaints about this school. I also have a criminal justice associate degree with this school and I've been able to transfer credits to my brick and mortar school i attended. No problems here and I may take another certification program w ashworth

this online school is all worth it. graduated and received my diploma....and now moving on to college! awesome!

I have always wanted to go back to college. Being married and raising 2 kids, I was not able to go to college. I have worked as an electrician for 30+ years, but was always hamstrung when it came to electronics. I came across this diploma in Basic electronics and thought, for under $700 and it includes books, testing materials, a meter and electronic supplies, I can't go too wrong. So far the course has been very informative, even though at this point I have only covered the basics. That's OK though, because I needed a refresher course on a lot of these. It looks like a lot of complaints are by people who did NOT read the terms of service and the rules. It plainly states that if you can't finish your semester within a year, there will be an upcharge if you want to extend it. Of course, from all the bad reviews, I really am not surprised, because most of the bad ones are IN ALL CAPS, horrible punctuation, horrible spelling and a really bad sentence structure. I'm surprised any of them are literate and could read at all, or comprehend what they actually read. I did not give everything a high score, I gave some of them a score somewhere in the middle because I have not had to deal with teachers at this point. The support I have had to get has been through the student portal and have had every question answered. I went through my employer to apply for reimbursement and they signed off on the reimbursement if I get at least a "C" on my courses. I am impatiently waiting for my supplies to arrive in the mail today so I can continue with my studies (I'm at 47% is a little over a month). I am sure things will slow down, but that gives me time to review what I have already been graded on. One last thing, you get what you give in anything in life. I will tell you one thing, any college you attend does not give a hang about whether you pass or fail. They got their money, so they are like a brick and mortar school. If you do not want to work, do NOT sign up for this schooling. READ THEIR TERMS OF SERVICE (if you have at least the basic reading comprehension). If my opinion changes, I will do a new review. Learning Disabled College Graduate I graduated from Ashworth's Security Management program in 2012. I have multiple learning disabilities; therefore, this was an appropriate option for me. My only complaint is that the material was not on a PDF file; nevertheless, book scanners helped fixed the problem. I have experienced discrimination from many institutions, due to being (LD). However, Ashworth’s online design prevented that from occurring. I also graduated from James Madison high school in 09, which is their (RA) online high school. I obtained a few more career diplomas from them too. Ashworth College is nationally accredited. If you plan on going to a university, that is both regionally/nationally accredited, I highly recommend researching Ashworth. I am in my junior year, with an institution that is both (RA) and (NA.) If you are only interested in your local B&M, they may not accept Ashworth. This was fine with me, because a majority of these institutions do not accept (LD) students without the SAT/ACT. Standardized testing excludes and marginalizes students with learning disabilities. If Ashworth is not right for you, I highly recommend researching schools that practice and promote Fair Testing: http://fairtest.org/university/optional. I am currently working in a field that is related to my degree, which in itself is unusually. I find myself referring back to my past textbooks often. Additionally, you will discover that their books are used in many certification courses. They now have two programs, which includes their Security Administration degree and a Security Management path. The Security Administration degree is an A.S. degree; the other program is an A.A.S. (applied science). I recommend the A.S., if you plan to get your B.A. /B.S. You will have fewer courses to take when entering into a B.A. /B.S. program. I took the A.A.S. and learned more about the industry; therefore, the choice is up to you.

I enrolled in asworth about a month ago, I loved it after getting my high school diploma with James Madison. I know I would be coming back. They give me a very good discount on my tuition. The material is not a depth to what it could be but overall it's been a good experience so far.

As a student who left Ashworth for lack of transferability let me provide some advice when looking for college help. I can say with over 7 colleges under my belt as a result over the term of my years to completing a degree program. No, I hadn't failed, told to leave, or administratively separated from any college. I am retired military and had relocated in my tenure of service to complete a degree over time. First and foremost, read, read, read, any college catalog prior to applying. Ask around, do RESEARCH!!! Call colleges and talk specifically with the admissions, copy all classes that you would need to transfer from one college to the next. Majority of college websites have a transfer credit listing and associated colleges to which they accept. Demographically most colleges are separated by regions from east to west and vice versa. Some colleges will accept almost any transcript, in most cases classes do not transfer credit, as the college needs to make money, and requirements that need to be met by that specific college. If memory serves me the DoE has/had a map of school regions for monetary supplementation and is/was a great source to follow for accreditation by region. As with Ashworth, no credits would have been taken for the colleges I had attended. So I stopped for the benefit of using my funds towards a degree I was earning that would transfer. Again, some colleges on the east coast did not take my credits from the central west college I had attended, back to square one of completing credits. At a later point I started reviewing each college for the best options and transfer credits before filing one admission form and starting classes (the ominous catch all from admissions "sure they will transfer no problems!"). Another item that helped after I attended Ashworth and attending other colleges is if you feel hands on training is not sufficient for the course, contact a local college and/or apply for student work towards the field of study, or outside agency. By large a vast majority of students have taken small internships or work programs through vendors to help build a foundation to what you are learning. Case in point during after class hours instructors were looking for students to help in projects with small resources. Butler Comm. College accepted that I was a student through Ashworth and needed the knowledge. The staff was very helpful and, although I was not an intern or working through the college... I had the opportunity to work first hand in my career path. A side note, For Profit colleges are just that, they want money and will drive a degree plan to make the greater income for the college. Although most FPC hire instructors that are well paid in the private sector for leading application/standardization to provide excellent workforce application. I have seen a total of four Ashworth degree holders, all have advanced in their experience, increased job related skills to become marketable, and starting pay was higher then those that walked in from the street. The person makes the degree. Many jobs look for the persistent, educated, follow through worker/manager employee...that you had the tenacity to finish what you start. The college was not a place holder to the job. Applying the knowledge and workplace efficacy carries the weight. Take a look into the mainstream business or corporation, read articles from top executives and HR, talk to recruiters, and take a pronounced effort into your workforce. The guidance is out there. In the end its you that will make the grade and stand out from the rest.

All this program consists of are PDF files you read through and a 20 question multiple choice test at the end. You can take the test up to three times, and it is open book. The material is not very in depth. I have hands on experience in an animal hospital and was hoping to learn more in depth about what the vet assistants are doing. this is basic basic basic stuff. I feel like I am learning nothing. Spend a day volunteering at a clinic and you will learn more than this entire course.

I attended Ashworth before I read reviews and clearly that was a mistake. I attended Ashworth for two weeks before I realized they were a scam. They don't actually have books, they have "Ashworth" college books that they send you. I wish I could post a picture because this book looks like the little workbooks I used to make for my cousins when we played pretend school. I was never able to get ahold of anyone, my teacher, customer service, no one. When I finally got into contact with Ashworth, I asked them to cancel my classes, cancel my payments, everything. I did not want to attend that school. They said they would and I kept getting bills. I called and called, never got an answer. Finally, I check credit karma and they sent me to collections, claiming I owe them $600 for classes. WHAT?!!! Now my credit score has dropped and I was working very hard to get that where I need it to be and Ashworth scammed the hell out me. I know I am not the only one, I've seen that I am not the only one. Do not do it to yourself.

I am on my second semester at Ashworth College and i have no complaints. The work is just the right balance of being challenging and all of my material has been up to date and sent on time. So far i havent had an back ordered books or issues with my payments maybe because i actually pay ontime and sometimes, before time. Sometimes i wish they would grade your written assignments in a timely manner but waiting 3 days seems to be the average. I only have 2 more classes and i will be enrolling in my 3rd semester, i am trying my best to graduate next year DEBT FREE!

Upon graduating high school,I had the option to choose between regular traditional college and online college to earn my degree. I chose online college and it was the best decision! I find myself to be a truly independent person who likes to have flexibility. When I chose this route of education, it has given me big opportunities! I am a dedicated student to my schoolwork but I also am able to begin my career earlier than my former fellow students. I am currently in pursuit of earning my degree in Business with a concentration in healthcare and doing so has afforded me the ability to land an amazing job at a hospital where I have the chance to grow in several areas while I work on my degree. When speaking to my potential employers about it, they were over the moon about it because they know I can gain the experience while working in the healthcare industry. This I feel, Is such a treasure because I am able to have more than the general traditional college student. Not only that, but with the advanced and challenging programs Ashworth has, I have the chance to graduate earlier. In this aspect, this is the smarter way to go. I feel as though the education I am receiving is quality. The affordability is just a bonus in my eyes, its the education that counts. I find myself learning more than I ever thought I could and its been very beneficial in several areas. I really enjoy the materials I receive, they are thorough in what they contain and they are brand new from known publishers. If I was ever in need of assistance, The advisors were always very respectful and helpful on the occasional basis. I am very thankful and happy I chose this school, It has been a truly great experience and I think others who have the same motivation and career passion as I do, would feel the same way. I have no complaints with this school, they have been nothing but excellent.

I had an excellent experience with Ashworth College. I am very proud to myself that i graduated from Ashworth for bachelor of science in Psychology. Ashworth made my dream came true and allowed me to continue with my education. I was very amazed when I found out that more than 5 prestigious regional accredited universities accepted credits for Ashworth College. I am very happy that i learned this great school Ashworth College and got accepted into MSW program for Walden university. Advice to future students, please do not hesitate to enroll Ashworth College as tuition is very affordable with payment plan and zero interest options are available to you. I worked at a pharmacy for years with an entry level position. I had already gotten a degree before this in something else from a different college. I was given a promotion under the condition that I got my pharmacy tech certificate. Still needing to work it was suggested to me to take my pharmacy tech courses online at Ashworth and i successfully completed it in little under 4 months. In the situation I was in Ashworth worked good enough and still being able to complete my goal and actually work was amazing for me. Ashworth can work for you in the unique situation you may find yourself in.

Excellent college!! I enrolled here for my Medical office assisting certificate and diploma and I graduated with honors! I feel as though all materials I have received are top of the line, excellent quality materials that is identical to today's curriculum. Their curriculum in fact, is very good as well. They have it so that it is challenging yet rewarding and very thorough so you do not miss anything. Their exams are also very good, they allow open book however you of course can do what is comfortable for you and in regards to the educational system entirely it is very highly structured for an online school. I enjoyed my experience immensely. This fall I will be re-enrolling for my bachelor's in business and am very much looking forward to it as I truly love their system of education. If there are those looking for a pure high quality education with structure, rewards and satisfaction then I absolutley recommend Ashworth and hope it is a good fit for you as it was for me. Do not listen to any naysayers, in all honesty I believe that maybe this type of college is not for them but they shouldn't spoil future experiences for others but remain respectful at the very least. Based upon my own personal experience this college is an excellent college and I am very proud to have attended this school. I personally give an A+ rating all across the board. :)

Back in 2014 I enrolled for the human resources degree program. At first, I'll be honest I was skeptical of online colleges but enrolling into Ashworth was an excellent career move. I work at my current job and also work on my studies in my free time so I get to create that fine balance which I overall enjoy so it doesn't become too stressful. As for the materials, they all came in on time and we're on point on what is used today for textbooks and they were filled with useful information that I could use and was also very in depth. I really have enjoyed the human resources degree program, I am looking forward to seeing where I land in my career with my degree, of course I am hoping to advance but we will see in due time. Great school, well worth the money,time and effort. It is what you make it, you're getting a good education so I do recommend this school to those who desire a good,solid, education. I had a good experience and I hope others do too! :)

I don't care what people think or say about Ashworth because I don't think they really understand or just do not have the true maturity to handle it but personally, I have had a truly fantastic experience. I will say it point blank, it is an excellent school in my personal opinion. I decided to enroll because I wanted true education that I could accomplish independently. I am honestly proud of what I have achieved so far. I enrolled into the Business Administration/Management program with a focus in marketing and its great, I think the only tough part I actually had with it was choosing the electives because they have excellent ones to pick from! To go along with the other curriculum, the electives are great fill-ins because you get to choose where you want to focus on most. The criteria is challenging but its fun nonetheless because I got to learn things about business I never knew before. I feel like you come out a more educated person and also well rounded.If you truly study hard, everything you learn sticks with you. I find it exciting, with each course I finish I feel like I am getting closer to achieving where I want to be. After I am finished with my bachelors, I absolutely intend on getting into my field and pursuing my masters to bring me farther. Ashworth, I believe is truly an excellent school and I am proud to be graduating from here. Online college is the way of the world today, its no longer the future its today and I think it is the better way to go you get so much more out of it. I am happy and proud to be part of it because it shows how much of a person you are to take on education, pursue what you want in your life and make it your main priority all on your own. I think it shows tremendous character and maturity. Ashworth, you have been amazing. The faculty, the materials and the overall experience I absolutely give my personal grade of an A+!

Online college was a good fit for me. Why? I got to do some student teaching- in the classroom. Basically the time I was not in the actual classroom, I was in a digital one with Ashworth. My course materials were sent to me in a timely fashion and honestly I found my classwork easy enough to follow and was able to find time around my student teaching time. Ashworth worked for me because I had dropped out of normal college because of high costs-but this worked for me for timing and money and I'm happy to say I am a full time teacher now. Follow your dreams people!

I took Ashworth on line all my materials arrived on time and any question I asked where answered with great help. My biggest issues is the school is not accepted as an Accredited College here in Texas. So I'm having trouble in some areas of employment.

The title of my review is not hands on but works- because it does. I took the business management program and successfully finished it. I think in a classroom I might've had a slightly better experience, but for what you pay, and what you learn (choose the order you take your classes wisely) Ashworth is well worth it.If you want the experience of a normal in the classroom kind of college then this is not for you.

Most people who study online generally are folks who need to go to work too. With that said Ashworth is a good deal price wise and being able to study at my own pace worked well for me. Having to deal with the school can be a little stressful sometimes but dealing with anything like that via phone and email can be a little daunting to get your away. Regardless I graduated from the forensic science program and enjoyed it. The classes were a bit challenging but I guess that's college.

I took the pharmacy tech course at Ashworth College and what do you know I work in a pharmacy now. I see the reviews on here with people complaining about some of the flaws of online education but if you bear with it and take advantage of your education you are paying good money for you can get to where you want to be.

I graduated from the early childhood education program. It was ok. Ashworth has some ups and downs but the ups are much better than the downs you experience. I'm working with children now and that was my dream. I say go for it at ashworth, but be prepared for anything. Just march along.

I always wanted to have a college degree, but I needed to actually pay for it. Ashworth worked well for me because I did have to work fulltime while in school. So the value is great. I got to complete my degree. I got what everything and then some out of it!

I consider myself a lone wolf and and independent learner, have been since I was a child. Learning in a classroom with others was never for me. Being homeschooled growing up to help myself learn better, for college online school was the best option for me and my learning style. Studying business online has been great for me and I'm really learning what I need to know and I'm doing in my own environment that I enjoy. If you are someone like me who is better working alone Ashworth College is a great choice. Like anywhere there are flaws but I feel I'm getting a great education how I want it.

I'm studying criminal justice and hopefully will have my degree soon. Ashworth is a good school if you read the directions and follow instruction well. I'm learning a lot and only issues I've had are with calling the school but that's it. I think aside from that everything is going well. Getting good grades and a career soon!

Not a bad school. I took the business administration program and I am employed now. My course materials sometimes did take awhile to get to me but when you "study" at your own pace I guess this is a trade off. I did enjoy the study when you can aspect to Ashworth. I was able to continue working and study on the nights and weekends. Looking back I would do Ashworth college again because it got me to where I am now with some hardwork thrown in. Like the title: it worked for me so hopefully it will for you.

I never give to many reviews, but you see many negative remarks about Ashworth and their programs. I can tell you do not be fooled by the cost. This is an on-line college and you; not the college must do the work. If you can not motivate yourself you need to look elsewhere. I found the course work challenging, I am 54, have a career, family, and other demands on life. I find this program the best for me. I have 12 credits and I will be finished with my degree. As for customer service, I have never had a problem when I call about books, course work or grades. Sometimes things do not move as fast as people think it should and that may be the problem. We live in a society now that wants it now, what happened when you had to write a letter and wait weeks to get a reply, Now it is emails, tweets, Facebook, no one know how to be patient. Give Ashworth a try if you have the discipline to work on your own, because that is what it take to be successful in this learning environment.

Ashworth's MBA program, first of all is accredited by the U.S.Department of Education,that was the first thing as a student I wanted to know . Quit listening to the nay-sayers about quality. This curriculum on line to a MBA rates up there with most IVY league universities, no joke. This Program is not easy,that is why you must set your mind to work. As a MBA candidate,you must,must,must be a self-motivator. If the teachers and the staff don't communicate with you at the time you set,contact them again,They will communicate with you and all will be well. I got my high school diploma in 6 months. Went off to College with no problem. Now teaching College. I am so happy I enrolled in this Program. I also removed my teens from Shelby county schools here in Memphis. They are now full-time students. I have no problems so far with my teens. Some times books are slow and we have to send out an email to speed up the process. Other than that we love Ashworth.

It started out ok and eventually ended with me withdrawing. First of all I was on the automatic withdrawal payment plan direct out of my account and they could NOT get that straight for awhile. In my 3rd semester and I could not get any help from the tutors or instructors regarding why my assignment was returned unacceptable. The instructors handwriting was NOT legible and I was told they do not keep copies so therefore no one knew or understood what I was talking about. I could not correct the assignment to resubmit for a passing grade because I did not know what was wrong. (the instructor did not make any notes)They did not offer tutoring for that assignment therefore I was supposed to figure it out on my own or which I could not do...(reason for me taking the course). Anyway, I called & withdrew telling them my reason and it was no big deal and told me I would have a balance for early withdrawal of which I paid - just so I could be done with this school. I'm glad I made the decision I did and hopefully Ashworth will review their grading process and do better. A WASTE of time and money!

I just recently graduate from Ashworth College in AS General Business. The payment plan was great. I was able to get my fourth semester free but you will have to pay for all three semester before enrolling in the fourth semester. All the books are included in tuition which made this great. Southwestern College is a regional accredited college which accept credits from Ashworth College. I hope this help.

Absolutely amazing college with money very well spent! I have received nothing but success with this college and have been immensely happy with it. I am currently enrolled in earning my bachelors/masters in Healthcare Management and I love the fact that the professors and staff have been such an amazing support group in helping me achieve my main goal. I have never seen such an exceptionally thorough curriculum as it is precise and the knowledge learned is very powerful in many ways. It goes to show me that I can enforce this information in my future career which is very imperative. This school in particular has itself together in the pursuit of wanting to help you succeed and that is their main objective as other schools I believe are more interested in title, money and popularity as Ashworth is more focused on making sure you get an exceptional education that can get you farther than you could ever imagine. Of course with any school, you will come across difficult portions while studying but you work through them and keep moving forward so you learn but you must do the work in order to gain the satisfaction that you want. Overall, I am amazed with this school and I hope it continues to be as amazing as it is if not phenomenal.

I completed the Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing in Jan 2016. As a busy adult, this was the best option for me. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have absolutely no complaints. The coursework was every bit as challenging as any other Department of Education/CHEA recognized and accredited college. The flexibility allowed me to complete my degree faster than in a traditional university. Loved it so much that I just enrolled in their MBA. I would guess the negative reviews come from those students that did not take the time to read and understand the college's policies, or did not have the wherewithal to complete a rigorous program. The classes are tough. This was no different than attending my State university. Lots of research and writing. Great program! Proud to be an Ashworth College graduate.

I am a 2012 graduate of Ashworth College. My experience with this school has been wonderful. I am now pursuing a Master's degree at a regionally accredited online university. I attribute my good academic standing to the foundation I received at Ashworth. I applied myself and worked very hard to achieve my bachelor's degree at Ashworth. I did not expect handouts and I did not expect to be spoon fed. The course work here was academically appropriate. I discovered how to do proper research, use references and write solid academic papers using APA style. I work for the government and my employer had no problem accepting my accomplishments at Ashworth. I found my finance class very challenging. When I called the school for assistance, a wonderful young lady called me back the very next day and addressed my situation competently. I went to a "brick and mortar" school for my associate degree and to take some credits toward my bachelor's degree. However, I am proud to be a graduate of this school with my degree proudly displayed in my office. Thank you Ashworth for a quality education.

I'm currently enrolled in Ashworth College I read the reviews but I decided to enroll here. I was a bit scared at first because I wasn't sure what to expect. I haven't had any problems so far and I only have 3 1/2 semesters left until Iam done. They accepted a lot of my credits from another school that I attended so its not taking me long to earn my Bachelors in Early Childhood. If your not sure about something make sure you ask question. I had to pay an extension fee once because I was aware of the time period you have to finish the semester out. So now I make sure I ask question now so you get you what you pay for. Its affordable for me and I don't have to sit in a classroom and work at my own pace.

I have just transferred to another Online High School due to years of trying to get my diploma. I was having trouble with my original College Prep. High School Program, so I called to change to the General High School Program. At that time, I was told that my program was OBSOLETE, even though I was working on a course at that time! I had to pay $400 to switch. The website is a pain to use (At this very minute, I cannot even log in to my account to get a transcript.), and there is NO support. There is a time limit for finishing a test, once you start it. By the time I get 2-3 "error" messages during a test, the time has run out; and I fail the test. When I contact them about a problem, they just repeat what I just told them and say there's nothing wrong with their website. They don't try to help. DON'T DO IT!

I enrolled with the medical billing and coding program 12 days ago. I was initially able to review all of the documentation that was sent to me. I was able to immediately log into the student portal and access the workspace. However, upon trying to complete the first lesson, the student handbook was mislabeled as career guidebook and did not match up with the correspondence in that lesson. I also could not access the orientation that was recommended that I watch. I sent a ticket in asking for clarification and received a response several days later that was very vague. I tried to contact the school two previous times by phone, both times I would select my choice on the automated menu and it directed me to the student survey line. Yesterday morning, I sent an email requesting withdrawal and a full refund of the total amount that I paid. I have not received a response. I contacted the school again today, finally reached a human being, proceeded to tell my experience and was transferred unknowingly to the survey line again! I called back, got a new person, and she claimed that I never called that line because no one else has complained, and that i did receive a response about my ticket submission, although it was not the answer I was looking for. I am a previous student of a well known university. I am a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society. I am a member of an elite honors sorority. I take my education very seriously. With that said, the best they could offer was a $400 refund, of which I have paid almost $900 in full for the program! So this has cost me almost $500 in 12 days and I have no resolve. This is highly unacceptable, and I wouldn't recommend Ashworth to my enemy. Proceed very cautiously!!!!!

I chose Ashworth because of it's price. You do what you get pay for. I have had issues with their website when completing assignments and their customer service is severely lacking. Now I find out that I need a "proctor" to complete my Semester Exam and without this 3rd party, I cannot complete the semester. I do not have anyone I can use as a 3rd party, so I'm stuck. My advice is go somewhere else. Save yourself the time and frustration.

My son, prior to high school, was a 3.0 average student. When he went to high school he asked us to be home schooled before finishing 9th grade. His average had dropped to a failing grade. Due to the stress that was put on him due to studying only for the FCAT, his teachers did not have time to answer all his questions. He left high school and our district had James Madison High School as an approved on-line school. The other programs listed were for free, but we would have had to purchase all the text books. So, to James Madison High School we signed him up for. He entered into the COLLEGE PREPARATORY HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM. When he had questions, the teachers responded. When he asked for tutoring, they responded. If I had to make a late payment due to financial issues, they worked with me. MY SON HAD TO STUDY for four years. Don't think you will get your High School Diploma in 6 months. YOU HAVE TO STUDY! YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK! My son graduated with Honors and is now in the Ashworth College General Business Program. He is also working with the recruiters to become a U.S. Marine, who accept James Madison's High School diploma as well as the Ashworth College Courses. HINT: If you want to continue with college, do not do the General High School program, do the College Preparatory High School Program. Also, if you live in Florida and have the Prepaid College Program, the Florida Prepaid College Program will pay for Ashworth College. This is not an easy road, but one that will help you learn how to organize yourself, learn time management and become committed. Good Luck and Study Hard!

I will be frank in stating that I have not enrolled in Ashworth. I did, however, over a four month period speak with three different representatives of the school about its Substance Abuse Counselor certificate, which I had hoped would facilitate a career change for me. Ashworth admits on its website that students should check with our states' licensing boards about requirements for substance abuse counseling. On one of its urls the school writes, "As part of the Ashworth College Substance Abuse Counseling training program, all students participate in a 300-hour practicum in a supervised clinical setting. The clinical practicum is one of the prerequisites for anyone seeking a credential and/or licensing as a substance abuse counselor in most states." But such a class is not offered by Ashworth. When I asked their representative, I was informed it's my responsibility to find a practicum. So it's possible to enroll in the Ashworth program, not find a practicum, and therefore not be eligible for licensure. Of course, you’d be out your Ashworth fee. On spending weeks at various state facilities looking for a practicum, I learned I'd have to be trainee-licensed through my state, which, you guessed it, requires me already to have a job in the field. Catch-22. On speaking with our state's flagship training university that offers its own substance abuse program, I learned that nearly every legitimate school--from community colleges through graduate programs--offers the practicum through partner affiliations with various hospitals, treatment facilities, and other agencies. They've told me they do this because otherwise it is "virtually impossible" to acquire an internship in an era of record competition for them among even masters-degree qualified professional therapists with over a decade of experience who’ve been laid off as counseling psychology job offerings shrink in a shift away from salaried professionals to contract professionals. What did Ashworth's representatives have to reply to all of this when I shared the news? Not their problem. They'd happily take my money, but my post-educational success is none of their concern. Which brings me to another major problem I have with Ashworth. While I appreciate their programs cost much less than those at even most state schools, the value of a given program, there's a strong case to be made, lies in its translatability into employment. I already pursed an undergraduate STEM degree only to find no jobs available on graduating from a well-ranked program with excellent grades and recommendations. After years working in an unrelated low-wage field, I did my due diligence, spoke with university program heads about marketability of different degrees, liaised with state and federal advisors and corporate representatives about career growth and demand in the USA, and after doing my homework chose to pursue a masters, also in the sciences. After two years and tremendous additional debt, I learned the majority of positions in my field had been outsourced, and the availability of positions in the US was at an all-time low. Colleges' response to this very frequent predicament? Not their problem. Again, colleges and universities are happy to take your money, but your post-educational success, despite your excellent grades and test scores, isn’t their concern. And if you think a cheap online school like Ashworth is any different, think again. I just got off the phone with an Ashworth rep who kept interrupting me and speaking over me. She asserted that it's not Ashworth's responsibility to offer a curriculum in substance abuse counseling that addresses ANY state's licensing requirements. I've spoken with CA, WA, OR, MA, IL, NH, and NY state boards, and each of them requires a practicum COURSE supervised by a faculty member who is also licensed in the field. Ashworth doesn't offer such a course. All their work is online, and they have NO affiliations with any facilities that could provide states' practica requirements. They couldn’t even advise me on whom to speak to. And that also goes for their much-touted 300-hour practicum. Notice their wording doesn't state you'd be PLACED in such a practicum, but rather that you participate in such a practicum--meaning you have to find one yourself. If you check job boards in psychology and counseling, jobs are dying in the field, and those that arrive to replace them are very low wage, but require significant certification--requiring, in turn, practica hours in a training facility. It doesn’t take a PhD in economics to understand a major implication is that far better credentialed psychologists would be competing eventually for practica to acquire additional credentials for better employment options, and an Ashworth online student with no affiliation with a practicum organization is unlikely to win the coveted practicum. And this doesn’t take into account university students at state and private accredited traditional (brick-and-mortar) schools that have a wealth of medical and social connections and therefore arrange students’ practica as part of their expensive degree programs. Ashworth simply doesn't have the connections to do this, and an online degree anyone can complete without the university-backed connections to acquire the requisite institutional training is in essence superfluous. I decided to write this review not so much because the last Ashworth agent I spoke with, who refused to give me the contact information for a supervisor, was condescending and factually uninformed on the very programs she's supposed to be advising people like me considering laying down a chunk of cash for Ashworth, but because as a multi-degree holding student who's an example of a mushrooming national community of "underemployed" college graduates who're still responsible for back-breaking college loans, I'm fed up with colleges and universities profiting off students' fears and hopes surrounding employment and financial survival. Ashworth agents have the temerity to tell you a lack of concordance between their certificates and state licensing requirements is not their concern. When I asked the latest Ashworth rep what states' requirements Ashworth's Substance Abuse Counselor program does in fact satisfy, she spat, "I don't know. That's not our responsibility." Really? At the very least that type of institutional hubris should be a red flag to financially savvy students for whom a(nother) academic credential is a financial and time investment. Rude administration, uninformed telephone representatives, and poorly requirement-matched programs (at least the "new" Substance Abuse Counseling program) earn Ashworth a failing grade from this student advocate.

First Ashworth College is great school for a married working Adult. I graduated 2012 with Associate of Science in Criminal Justice with Honors. You have to finish each semester in a [year]. I'm working on Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice I only have 12 courses left. You have be dedicated to doing the work putting in the time to do the research, writing the paper's. Everybody struggles I know I did. You can go to a State University, pay $34,000 a year for tuition four years $136,000 that does not include books or a #2 pencil or a piece of paper. To sit in the class room, have a Graduate student instructor say "I'm here to put the work out to you and I'm not here to spoon feed you the course work". He went on to say "Lab's are Tuesdays and Thursday's for those of you having problem's". Been their done that. Just for reference you can figure a nuances' of a course just have confidence in yourself. You should become friendly with a Liberian you will be amazed what a person with a PhD in Liberian Science knows about, loves French Pastry's. I have never contacted Ashworth College tutor's. I have a Liberian who said; I'm here to help you any time it's my pleasure that's when I started bringing French Pastry's $6.00 got me and my a best guess $30,000 dollars of her time over the years for the Math course's in College Algebra.

For me this was the way to earn my degree. I hated driving to classes after working all day. At first I was very concerned about attending Ashworth due to the negative comments I saw on the web about customer service or that its a scam. But I figured I would give it a try as I have started and quit 3 different times. Signing up took a bit that that was expected. I took advantage of the chance to test out of some of the classes in order to save money and time. This took a bit to get going but it did work out great for me. I was able to test out of 7 classes which saved me a lot of time and money in the end. Some of the classes were very easy for me and others took me back to studying once again. I did have to contact the school but it was due to my own issues and there policies. I never once had a negative contact with their customer service. If I felt I was right I would explain why and to my surprise they listened and ended up siding with me. I have not used my degree to move up in my career but I have moved on in my career and I do believe having this degree helped me and gave me one more item that others did not have. You get what you put into Ashworth I believe. If you want A's then you must do the work to get them. If you want to just get by and earn your degree at your own pace and your own environment then that path is there as well. The best part for me is that when I could no longer afford to pay upfront for each term I was able to finance my education with Ashworth with no interest. Granted you have to pay this loan before you receive your degree but you are listed as completed until your loan is paid in full. I wish I would have done this 20 years ago but of course this was not around then.

I signed up and paid for this course in full at the time I registered. I work 50 hours a week and thought this would be the perfect way to do this program, until today when I went online to submit a test and cannot do anything. I get a message that I need to pay another $75.00 for a 6 month extentsion to continue. I called and told them I knew nothing about having to complete this in a year. I was told it was somewhere in the contract I initialed when I signed up for the course. They have my $700.00 and now I have nothing. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. When I told him I work 50 hours a wee, that is why I thought this would be a good way for me to study, he stated you have 1 month to finish before my year expires. I can't even get into my student portal to do anything or even take a test without paying the $75.00, but hesays I can finish up in a couple of weeks. Very upset the way I was treated.

I've completed the course. However, the contract and access had been changed without my knowledge or approval. I have an unofficial transcript as proof that I've completed the courses. Therefore the inept treatment received based on my dismay did not hinder my personal accomplishments.

I HAVE DECIDED TO WAIT TO GAIN CLINICAL EXPERIENCE AFTER I HAVE COMPLETED THE PROGRAM I WORKED AS A NURSE FOR YEARS, AND AT 62 YEARS OLD THIS WILL BE MY 2ND CAREER I PLAN ON FINISHING MY BS DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY THAT I STARTED AT ANOTHER COLLEGE AS SOON AS I COMPLETE THE PHARMACY TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM (THE MEDICAL BILLING AND CODING PROGRAM HAS GAINED MY INTEREST AS WELL!!) I HAVE EVEN CONSIDERED MOVING TO GEORGIA TO BE CLOSER TO THE COLLEGE.....

I graduated from Ashworth College with an AAS and BS degree in Criminal Justice and is very proud. It takes hard work and determination. I will recommend Ashworth College to any one. I guess it's a hit or missed based on the reviews I've read. Either you like the style of learning or you hate it. Either you get your books on time or you have billing issues. At least for me I was patient the firs time around when they took longer than expected. I called and after that I had no problem with any of the books. They all came on time.

I am the mother of a 16 year old son on the autism spectrum. When I called for info on the school the enrollment rep assured me that JMHS was the right choice for us. I asked numerous times in numerous ways how the program worked for special needs kids and he kept telling me it would be a good fit. I paid my $100 deposit and signed my son up for the program. We had been homeschooling for a few years already but since my state did not require I keep a middle school portfolio, I didn't. When it came time to actually start classes I was told I needed to prove that he was promoted to the 9th grade. Since I had not kept a portfolio they told me he had to take an entrance exam at a cost of $50 per attempt. He would not be able to start classes until he passed this exam. The enrollment rep knew that I had no portfolio because I told him, and he never said anything about an exam. When I called to see what could be done I was told that he had to take the test. I tried to explain and find out if we could start classes and take the test a bit later and was told no. At this point I started to realize that there were no accommodations for special needs kids. I then asked the woman I was speaking to if the enrollment reps worked on commission and she said yes. So basically they say just about anything to get you to enroll. I was told that there would be a $275 fee to cancel my enrollment. Since they already had $100 of mine, the balance was $175. I had no intention of paying this and told them so. They said I could write a letter to a certain person if I had a dispute. I wrote the letter and didn't hear back for a while. In the meantime they called just about every day to collect. When I finally did hear back I was told they would not make me pay the balance, but I would not get my $100 back. I called the person in charge one more time but was denied. This school is not about academics or honesty... its about making money. And they don't care who they hurt to do it. Shame

I really feel like I must write a review on Ashworth College. No, they are not Harvard nor are they the top of the line in any way BUT I payed $700 to get a diploma so I could qualify to take an exam to become certified. I don’t feel like I was ripped off, I got what I paid for. I took the course and passed the NHA exam and now I can put the credential on my resume to get a better job. Since then I have decided to take their EHR management course to become a CEHRS (which I am almost done with), the medical billing and claims course and I am going there to get a bachelors in psychology. ALL these things will help me have a much higher ability of success in the working world. They are an accredited institution and if you don’t believe me then Google the list of recognized non-accredited institutions/ scams/diploma mills because it’s not on there. I appreciate having the option of not taking out anymore loans to further the pain of my crippled credit score. I went to a very pricey institution when I was younger and it wasn’t perfect either. I hate the fact that I have no idea who my teacher is and I actually just pretend like I am my teacher and if I don’t like my text book I will go on Amazon and buy a better one. I need school for a better life, and Ashworth College is giving me that opportunity at a price I can actually pay. It will work it you make it, it’s not for the lazy or for people wanting frills. That is all.

Ok well first off the customer service is horrible I took the graphic design course and received 4 books . Two the size of a small magazine. Very hard to understand and when you call to speak to a teacher you never will. You will get customer service reps who tell you to Google the answer . So I decided to cancel. I was told that I could cancel on a payment plan since my husband just deployed to Iraq but they never made a note of it and when I contacted them about this they threaten me with collections when I have never missed a payment and want topay it off . Oh and of you change your mind you will get charged 225.00. This school is horrible they don't respond to online questions either and when they do its not Much help. Only good thing is the price bit I guess you get what you pay for. Take my mistake as a learning experience and take your business elsewhere.

I have home schooled 2 of our sons through high school using American School. They raised their rates. So we switched to Ashworth for son #3. Bad move! He has been complaining all along that many of the questions in the study guides and exams are not to be found in the textbook readings. I confirmed this. We had to google to find some answers! My BIGGEST complaint though, I feel is a very SERIOUS one!! After son completes exams in the Exam Book, I log on to his account with Ashworth and he reads off his answers and I enter them. Several times now he has had answers marked WRONG and we both checked them and found there is no way they are wrong!! So I called Ashworth's Student Services and was told they would connect me to an Academic Adviser and she would make the adjustments. Was told "They do it all the time"... um, ok.... So sure enough the "Adviser" found both of my son's answers were marked incorrectly and she "gave him credit for both. That makes his new grade a 96." I replied, "Uh, he had only 2 answers wrong and you gave him credit for both. Doesn't that make his new grade a 100?". "oh, ya, sorry, 100". So as a parent, I not only have to double-check the computer but the Academic Adviser as well? So, I asked this "adviser" how my son could be giving correct answers yet having them marked wrong. She said "its a computer glitch". Ok "So how can I have confidence that ANY of his exams are being graded accurately?" She replies, "It's a computer glitch. It happens. That's why we advise students to review their answers after completing exams." So, the educational institution is allowed to essentially be "dumber" than the student? It's up to the STUDENT to correct the school system that you paid tuition to attend????? My last child will be starting high school in 2015. I WILL NOT be enrolling her in Ashworth!!

I graduated from Ashworth College in March of 2014, with an AA degree in Criminal Justice. I have been a police officer for many years and never thought I would need a degree. As a supervisor I was required to obtain a degree to remain in that position. I had no problem with Ashworth College, and would recommend it to anyone with a busy schedule.

I am a 17 year old who just graduated a year EARLY thanks to Ashworth! I don't know what people are talking about. I've never had a problem with support, tests, materials, or the teachers! I love how I can stay at my own pace. Tests are super easy as long as you actually study and whatnot. Also, I LOVE the activities they have you do online. Every time I call up there, the people are super friendly and easy to talk to. Coming from a girl who couldn't stand the high school atmosphere, this is the school to choose when looking for the right, affordable, online schooling option! (:

I just finished the carpentry diploma program at Ashworth College (July 2014). The textbook and information packets came within 2 business days. I do not have much to say about the college itself other than that the grading was horrendous. During my course, the tests were all online multiple choice that were instantly graded and answers shown; however, the final project which was just a written report about employment opportunities was a sham. It took more than a week to grade. The textbook was great and detailed. It seemed that some of the content and pictures especially were from the 1990's, granted most concepts still apply today. This is a great foundations course, but definitely not from someone aspiring to become a carpenter. You should go to an actual carpenter class/school and not take an online course where there are no hand-on activities. The textbook on Amazon.com is only $30 so you should start by buying that and reading every chapter instead of taking this course. There are no extra supplements except the textbook and the pamphlets for each section that do not provide any extra information. Essentially you are paying for the "diploma" because the college does not offer anything extra. The textbook is the ONLY source of information and is all self-paced reading. So you are paying for Ashworth to tell you to read which chapters next. The only benefit of taking this course is to get a diploma at the end. All in all, if you want to actually learn carpentry and work as a carpenter, you should take a real hands-on-in-person course and NOT online. If you want to learn the foundations of carpentry as a hobby or self-education, then buy the textbook on Amazon.com and read it for yourself. You do not need to pay hundreds of dollars to Ashworth just to have them tell you which chapters to read first.

I have been enrolled for an entire year at Ashworth in the web development program. I for the most part have had my ups and downs with Ashworth. At the beginning I was disspointed because I felt like they had forgotten about me however I received my books and began to get the hang of the college. After that things have become easier. It always tough in the beginning.

My first problem came in the form of them trying to tell me I wasn't eligible for the 4th semester free that was offered when I signed up, took 3 weeks to get that resolved. First course of semester 4 I cud not get the assignments to come up complete. I messaged and was told no that is right you are ok to submit. I submitted and failed the assignment. Spent 2 days fighting to get a second chance. Now I'm on the second course if the semester and once again my assignment is messed with and the instructor is refusing a submission and since I didn't pass that one element even though I have a b for the course, I am once again fighting them this time to get that course closed so I can move on. If you don't want to be jerked around, run, run fast and far.

No need for having to study for a GED test when you can finish high school online! I never thought this was possible until I began to google courses for GED prep and stumbled upon online HS. You take the classes instead of having to prep for a dumb test which takes the same amount of time. And you can say you graduated High School :)

I really enjoy learning with Ashworth College. They're a fully accredited school and it's a pleasure working with the staff and professors. I'm doing a degree in Business Management and I'm really enjoying it! The content is fantastic and the staff make it interesting to learn about. The fact that it has a completely online system means I can work at my pace that will suit me. My mother has been ill and due to having to work and take care her it's sometimes hard to get the work done, Ashworth College makes it much easier for me. If I need help with any assignments or anything at all, there are resources that Ashworth College provides that allow me to get the help I need.

There are a lot of things that differentiate this college from regular colleges. for one thing a lot more work is involved, and this college i think serves a useful purpose for working individuals. i have never had any issues with staff and i have been able to keep up with the courses, if you're not a self learner and arent willing to put in a substantial amount of effort to succeed this college isn't or you. The learning material provided are of good quality.

The staff was helpful and responsive, i never had issues with the staff members, i think this college takes a lot more effort than the standard college, but what would you expect from an online college. If you make the sacrifice of not going to a real college be prepared to do more work. Overall this college is good im still in the progress of getting my degree, no issues so far.

People who cant keep up with the course are obviously going to complain, you have to be able to learn and teach yourself, as well as follow along with the material in order to succeed at Ashworth college. I never face any issues, but f youre looking for a college where the teacher will teach you everything step by step this is not or you. With a lot of effort ad persistence a good degree is deinately possible from this college.

I currently attend this school and there is a lot of debate over whether its worth it to go to this school, i have to say i have never had issues with the staff or advisors, the advisors have been polite and professional from the beginning explaining every step of my education to me, and as for the price, i think you have to know what fits your needs. I was willing to pay a little more than what i would normally pay for a community college because it allowed me to pursue an education from home, and not compromise the quality time i spend with my children. This college isn't for everyone, you have to asses your own needs but it definitely benefitted me by allowing me to get my education at home and not compromise the time i spend with my kids as a stay at home mother :)

The Business Administration program from Ashworth College was a pretty good program. Sometimes I feel like I should of paid more for a college because I feel like I lacked the hands on experience. When getting a degree in Business Administration it is always good to have the in class hands on. I feel like I missed doing group work with students and having real presentations. However, now that I have my degree from Ashworth College I can say that I have my degree. That I am happy for. I may have to have worked harder, but at least I have what I always wanted.

I never even got started. they promise a 40% discount and reneged on their promise and then charged an exorbitant cancellation fee. if that wasn't bad enough here comes the weekly calls from the collection agency and threats of spoiling your credit report. This would not be this bad if only I would have once use their services

I have attended Ashworth since 2012. All of my experiences with the school have been great. I would definitely recommend the school to others. The course work is challenging and comparable to any other school. My employer has no problem with the DETC accreditation.

My daughter and I looked over this college and thought with our finances and circumstances this would be the way for her to get her Early Childhood Education Assoc Degree. She had issues getting books the whole first semister. She got two books 2 weeks after enrolled then she was late December early January getting the last book she needed . Then started this last book and called questioning numerous times why information in the book and teachers notes didn't match up with the information for the tests. Finally after she completed 6 of 8 lessons they told her they updated the workbook/testbook and would send her a new one. She finally got it 2 or 3 weeks ago. She called because some of the tests for the class were reset but was told if she didn't fail them not to retake them because if she did they highest score she could get would be a 60% on each of them.....OK so they mess up she's stuck with a lower grade then she should have because of there book problem. So she finished the semister with 2 A's and 2 B's which both were only one percent away from and A in those classes and then supposedly fails her 3 classes of the 5 classes 10 question semister exam. If she got basically 4 A's and the C in the class she had all the book issues with how could you fall 3 of the 5 classes in the exam???? Doesn't make sence and now she is already a month behind because of all the issues with this class and this will set her back farther as she only has one more chance to pass the test or has to repeat the semister. Even her protor said that something isn't right with they test. Very frustrated to say the least.

When I first started off it was great. A few months later they started slacking on everything. It's hard for me to get help from customer service. Then I believe the teachers aren't giving me the grades I deserve which is very frustrating. Even when you email the teachers or ask them for help they don't get back in touch with you so my fiance helps me. The only reason I'm putting up with it is because I need my diploma, it's affordable and I know karma will come back on them.

I really enjoy the Ashworth online community site. It definitely helped my education process. At first I was lost trying to understand the ropes of an online education and Ashworth wasn't being as responsive as I hoped they would be. The customer service was not at all very good. But with the Ashworth community other students gave me helpful tips and we helped each other with the classes. I made college friends without attending an actual campus :) It was cool.

I needed to get a degree to get a promotion at my job. after some research i came across Ashworth and it was amazing. It is an extremely affordable program that simply gets the job done. classes are informative, support staff is helpfull and the degree is achievable. i would definitely suggest going to Ashworth to anyone that is considering it!

I enrolled in the Medical Transcription program because I need to work from home. I had looked at jobs online to make sure there was a market for them. I had also talked to someone before enrolling to make sure that the program would help me with it. I finished the course in 2.5 months with a 4.0 GPA (because I worked my butt off on it all the time). I have found out that no company will hire a recent grad to work from home that went to Ashworth. I would have to attend CareerStep or two other ones to do so. The rest of the companies want you to have atleast 1-5 yrs of office or hospital setting experience. I would not recommend the Medical Transcription program at Ashworth to anyone looking to work at home. When I brought this up in an email all I was told was sorry we can't help you and you should have done your research. I did do my research! I feel that it was a waste of my time and will never do it again.

Hello, I would highly recommend attending Ashworth they provide an excellent and affordable education. For the complaints about mail and deliveries I have a solution for you. Each class is about 8 exams and 2 essays. If you can get a zero on your final exam and still pass they will ship you your next book to you. I would always keep a high enough average so that by the time I did complete my final essay my new book was already at the door. I was able to complete my bachelors Degree in 29 months. That's 40 classes while also graduating with a 3.10 gpa. I also worked full time 40 plus hrs a week. On average I only took 7 days off a yr. I looked at my education as a part time job because in a way it was. I spent around 10 -15 hrs a week on each class. I must admit they were times when I wanted to give up, but now that I have a degree hanging on the wall it was all worth it. Bottom line is that if you are discipline and dedicated you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. I am living proof of it. Proud graduate June 2013

Ashworth is a decent option for post-secondary education. I'm attending Ashworth to expand my knowledge rather than to find employment but I can understand how having difficulties finding a job could be frustrating. I enjoy my program and thus far have had no problem transferring credits. I've also been granted the opportunity to do "CLEP" type exams to test out of classes. In the end, I will end up taking maybe 1/2 of the program. My issue with Ashworth is the timeliness and the customer service. The answers vary by person and they never match up. If you speak to 3 representatives in a day, you're guaranteed to get 3 dramatically different answers. Also, if it takes 7-10 business days to grade an exam, let's not forget the 3-4 weeks it may take them to "receive" it and when the 10th business day rolls around,you're told that sometimes it can take a bit longer and that you need to be patient. Another pet peeve is the course process. You take 1-2 courses at a time and then wait 7-10 business days to get the book. Often, it'll take longer to get the materials than it would to take the course. Other than the extremely delayed grading process and the poor and inconsistent customer service, I'd say I'm pretty satisfied. The registrars are pretty helpful and if you call enough, you can get answers. The student portal is an awesome tool btw. I like that Ashworth has a graduation ceremony although it's an online school. My question to those who call Ashworth a scam is this: "would the military fund a scam?". Think about it.

Please be mindful of other comments about Ashworth College. Most of the time it's not the school that's the problem. It's the people who went and couldn't pay or couldn't do their work and got mad and now want to bad mouth this college. Ashworth College is accredited and it's a great school. Yes the customer service sucks harder than a vacuum cleaner. I got my Teacher Assistance Diploma now I'm getting my Forensic Science Diploma. I know a Principal of a school who got her degree from this college and she's doing very well. Great school!

I believe Ashworth College is a good school with a great paralegal program. However, I believe their customer service is lacking in the transcript department. Overall, it is a better school than most people realized and many of the stuff are friendly. It is better than Penn Foster...which gave me the run around after trying to take my money.

I live in Louisiana it is not regionize in this state. All you can pretty much do is keep kids in your home with a BA in Early Childhood. No state school will hired you coming out o f Ashworth. I fell a little disopointted that the state will not aaccept your degree , but you can start your own childcare center and still do good. My review are bad / with some good.

The customer service at this school really stinks. You call and get a different person everytime and nobody gives the same answer as the other. I pay for my tuition within two weeks of opening a semester and have a hard time getting classes released. I am told to e-mail the tutors and get no response from them. I have no clue who grades the papers to talk to them. The only thing that this school has going for them is it is work at your own pace, if it wasn't for that I would not be going to this school. Save your money, go somewhere else!!!

Ashworth College the most deplorable customer service I have ever had to deal with. I have taken over a dozen on-line diploma/certificate courses through various institutes, including a couple from the UK. And Ashworth’s customer service was bar none the most inept I have had the displeasure in dealing with. 8 months to receive an accurate contract. Now we’re not talking about just a couple of bucks here, we’re talking hundreds of dollars. Originally when I called the enrollment operator (which by the way this number they will answer almost immediately, big surprise), my request was fairly simple and straight forward, or so I thought. I informed the operator I was a returning student (to get the returning alumni discount of $200), and that I wanted to pay for my class in full (to receive the “In Full” pay discount). All sounds easy enough, not even close, not only had the operator sit me up on a payment plan costing additional fees, but they didn’t even get the discount for returning student right. So now your thinking as I was no big deal shoot them an email and move on, wrong. • First I was informed that a supervisor would have to listen to my recording (evidently the on-line operators were not capable of doing the math that was presented, believed what I was saying, or permitted to act on their own), and that it would be more weeks before I hear back. • After 30 days of silence, in hopes to draw someone’s attention to my plight, I disputed my credit card fees and returned my books. And yet again nothing, no why did you do that, hey we’re going to charge you a cancelation fee, nothing. Now to my surprise I started receiving email notices requesting address up dates. Evidently this is a completely different department that does not communicate with customer services. So I again sent an email to let them know my address is correct, but my Enrollment Agreement contract was not. • This time I was told the “Accounts Receivable Deportment” would be addressing why I could not receive an accurate Contract. Figuring that maybe I rushed the school to much originally, I allowed 90 days this time to hear a response from someone, again nothing but silence. At this point I figure I need to take this up the chain o command a little. • I contact and file a complaint with one of Ashworth’s accrediting institutions the “Distance Education and Training Council” through their on-line complaint web page (http://www.detc.org/complaints/index.html). They were able to make contact and put me in touch with the Business Services Manager of Ashworth. Ahh, finally someone who can help me, Wrong again. • I call this “Business Service Manager” and explain my dilemma and she assures me there’s no problem everything will be taken care of and accepts my credit card information for full payment (for the second time). Well a week goes buy and I email the Business Service Manager and inform her that nothing has changed with my Enrollment Contract. Her response to me was, and I quote “unfortunately I cannot change the Enrollment Agreement, You will have to sign it to be able to access your program, and there is relevance in regards to the cancellation fee etc.” Now first of all is there anyone who doesn’t think that if this Business Service manager was unable to change and provide me with an accurate contract, she should have told me so prior to collecting my monies? Second, I question the education of a Business individual (of any status), who would recommend that someone sign an agreement NOT agreed upon, and then in the very same sentence they are telling you not to worry about the monies describe in the contract threaten you with enforcing said contract with cancelation fee if you do not sign said contract. I don’t think even Judge Judy could bail you out of that one. • My email response is pretty close to my above noted retort and I admit may be a little cynical but I’ve been through allot by this point and as if being threatened to sign the very contract I have been disputing for almost 8 months hasn’t pushed me over the top, this “BUSINESS SERVICE MANAGER response is about to. One guess as to the response I received, that’s right nothing, absolute silence. I receive a threat to sign on surfer the consequence of cancelation fees and end of conversation! Of course after the way I was previous ignored by supervisors and the Accounts Receivable department I am becoming quite aware of the Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.Ps.), of this organization, Ignore the problem and hope it goes away! • So now I go back to the Distance Education and Training Council and forward my emails from the Business Service Manager they had put me in touch with and again plead for some kind of assistance or avenue of direction. To my surprise it seems that the S O P of Ashworth is the same as that of their accredited institution because now they seem to be out of answers for I receive only silence from them as well. I can only assume that this accrediting institution isn’t concerned if I was receiving my education legally or not and just because I was being told to sign this inexact contract or suffer the reprisal of cancelation fees was no big deal, or that this might be happening to other students and was worth looking into. Now I figure I need to escalate this situation, I’m not getting support at this level. So I attempt to locate someone who’s in charge, I pull up the Better Business Bureau and locate the Owner/President/CEO of this corporation. I then locate him on media web site “LinkedIn” and search for contacts located at the place of business. • I contacted the Chief Operating Officer (COO), via email on LinkedIn and attempt to recount to him my predicament (in 60 words or less). Instead of contacting me directly and investigating the problem, he passes me off to yet another individual how contacts me by mail and request I call her. And of course no follow up from this individual was ever made as to whether or not my problem was ever resolved, surprise, surprise. • I attempt to contact this entity (title unknown), and I am intercepted by yet another person (title unknown), who proceeds to inform me that the individual I am trying to contact does not have the authority to help me, but he does. I again recount my tail of woe and I am reassured my situation is a simple matter and can be cleared up easily, if I would just call back again after he has had a chance to talk to his supervisor Yes I have still not ranked the level of a supervisor. • I call the following day only to find out this appointee was NOT able to fully explain my state of affairs to his supervisor and I would have to talk to that person myself. But they would not be available to talk to me until the following day. • I call AGAIN the following day to find the supervisor is again not available and to call back in the afternoon, at which time they were still not available. Never did hear from this supervisor, was evidently to busy for my IF they ever existed. I finally received a call from a very charming lady who indicated she worked on second shift and would address my situation, and in which she did, by starting my account from new (which is what I had specifically requested 8 months earlier. I was a little disappointed after learning by this time the course I was taking had reduced in price and not only was not offered the new discount price (for all my troubles), but was denied when I requested the new “As advertised” Price. 12 weeks to receive my Diploma/Transcripts Ahh, finally graduation, I completed all my lessons, or so I believed. My “Student Portal” indicates I have indeed passed all of my course work. I awaited notification as to the conclusion of my course, some kind of announcement that all work was complete, none ever came. All of the other distant learning institutes I have been associated with immediately sent me notification of achievement upon finishing my course work, not this one. • After a week of nothing but silence, I had to send an email inquiring as to whether or not I had actually finished my course work or if perhaps there was something I hadn’t attended to. Of course I had to wait a week for any kind of response, so no it’s already been 2 weeks of uncertainty. At this time (although absolutely nothing was noted anywhere within my student portal, or any of the “welcome” documentation, or any of the course material), I was now notified (after another week), that I had a “Semester exam” to take, and that I would need a Proctor (a third person involvement), and must supply contact information. • I opened my portal to address these concerns, only to find out that NOWHERE in my portal is any information about a semester exam and/or where to input proctor information? What kind of system demands information but doesn’t provide for its input? • Off goes another email requesting where/how do I provide the requested proctor information? Response; “there is no online source where you could add this information”, One might have thought the Education Specialist who provide the information about the exam might have at the same time provide the information that this information was not located on their web Site and requested the proctor information directly on the original email. Now I have completed my semester exam, all is good in the world, not! Again nothing but silence, not one word to whether or not I am actually complete this time. • Again, I sent an email inquiring as to whether or not I had actually finished my course work or if perhaps there was something I hadn’t attended to. Of course I had to wait a week for any kind of response, so no it’s already been 2 weeks of uncertainty. I was informed that on the day I completed and passed my semester final that my diploma request HAD BEEN processed and that it would be 6 to 8 weeks. Another 2 months before I would have documented proof to be able to present a potential employer evidence of a furthered education! Every other distant learning institute I have been associated with sends out Diplomas/Certificates without delay. Of course 8 weeks came and passed. I sent yet another email requesting status as to my account. Another week to await a response to find out the only intention was to submit the very same request again (because it worked so well the first time), and that it would be another 4 to 6 weeks. • Trying to expedite my documentation, I sent yet another email describing my frustrations in hopes that someone would look into my case and accelerate my paper work. The only response received was that they had no intentions of deviating from standard practice and I would have to wait the allotted time. 7 days to receive a response to an email inquiry. Now, as you can imagine by the above noted memoirs I have almost 6 dozen emails back and forth. 1 week per email is not hard to figure out how long this process took. And the best part (NOT), if while you’re waiting for an email response you attempt a phone response (whether or not you make connection with a real person), this evidently automatically sends a notice stating you’ve been taken care of and now you get to wait another whole week to get an email response. It is unknown to me the average amount of time it takes to receive a response to a phone inquiry. Every time I attempted phone contact I gave up after waiting more than 10 minutes each time. Evidently we all have unlimited talk time plans. you need not just take my word, you can reference the over 250 Billing/Collection and Product and service complaints listed in the last 3 years with the better Business Bureau and compare them to other Distant Learning institutes like Sullivan university online at only 1 complaint in 3 years, Kaplan University at 2, Strayer University online at 2, Stratford Career Institute at 5 and Virginia College online at 7.

I recently completed my BA in Criminal Justice and fould the program 100% worth the time. I read the reveiws of former students and if any of them state that the BA program is nonsense then they did not have a drive. Great instructors and very reliable and professional books. Without a doubt I felt like I was in a Brick and Morter school. I have already recommended the school to sevral friend and would do it again. Great job Ashworth

I wanted to home school my daughter for high school, she had always been a very bright good student and this felt like the right fit for us. When calling to sign up for the program they answer the phone in seconds. When calling for teacher support or questions it took up to an hour to be answered then they would just take a message. Useless! There was never a teacher to talk to as was promised in the sales pitch. After a year and a half we gave up on Ashworth. My daughter had to go back to public school after I had already spent well over $2500 on this waste, she had to go back with very little credit from our time working on this program. Then they never sent the rest of the text books that were already paid for. It is a HUGE disappointment and such a waste of money. I hope you google ALL sites for reviews and BBB complaints among others. I thought I had done enough research before making this big purchase. They may or may not be good at other online programs but for high school diploma it is all talk and no action. Please be warned and lead your child in another direction.

TERRIBLE SCHOOL. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS RUDE AND NOT HELPFUL. MONEY IS WASTED. THE CLASSES ARE NOT IN DEPTH AT ALL, SO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU LEARNED NOTHING. SPARE YOURSELF AND DO NOT ATTEND. the Landscape Design course is the worst course i have ever took in my life its so out of date and boring. i tried to get my money back after a week and they would not refund my money. so i gave it a nother try for a nother week and found that i wasnt learning a thing so i just disposed of the books. please dont make the same mistake i did

I am in the Security Services Career Diploma program and it is great. I used to work as a Security Officer for 3 years and have found the books, advice and learning to be excellent. I enjoy not having a fixed schedule and working at my own pace, it is so convenient! Overall, great school.

I am a recent graduate from one of the current Ashworth College career diploma programs. I had a great experience with this school. I even transfered the credits from this school to a local college in my home town. Now, I did lots of research before I enrolled in this program. I cheched with the local community college if these credits would transfer to their school for the Medical Assisting program, and they did. I went over numerous on-line programs with the school advisor to make sure everything was on track. All together it was 9 months of research before I chose a program and enrolled. Out of 12 different online programs only 2 would transfer in and then I compared the programs and course material. I am very happy with my choice and the course I completed. And, with it costing a fraction of the price that these same couses would have been at the local college i saved $13,000 off the total cost of getting my CMA.

I've been enrolled in this college for over 5years. Well.... books are excellent, however this school took too long to ship my books. I am currently still enrolled in this school. I am trying to obtain A.A degree and I'm not quite sure if I should pursue my career at this school.

I just want to say that I don't like the Customer Service/Rep in this school. They are very rude and unfriendly to their clients or customers and not to mention they tell you different informations which is very confusing to the students. They are supposed to support the students especially the newbies by guiding and giving enough infos about how the site works. But instead, they will bluff and very rude and mean everytime they deal with their students. They should improve their service! Not good!!

I'm almost done with my BA and it has been a great experience. Ashworth is accredited (I checked with DCFS in Illinois). You don't have the attention from the teachers like you would in the transitional school setting but you are able to communicate with them and they do give you feedback. The price for a degree is unbelievable so I can complain about the insinuation. I'm happy and excited that I will have a BA degree that's accredited with no debt; to me you can't bet it. The people who are negative about the school are people that were not persistent in their school work. If you work hard and is diligent in school you will graduate. I'm grateful for Ashworth and will be enrolling in their Master program. The only thing with the Master is that you first have to pay off your BA degree but I don't have a problem it helps in the long run. All I can say is that I've been horrible in school my whole life, and if I can make it you can as well. Let nothing or no one hinder you from that.

Ashworth is just the right college for me. I wanted to work in law enforcement and it did the job. I wasn't looking to go into a white collar Ivy League job. I wanted to do civil service and that's what I got. Ashworth is a great school for people who are looking for blue collar jobs . If you want to be a lawyer go else where, if you want to be a fireman, a police officer, sanitation, secretary , paralegal or any other blue collar type job than this school is totally worth it. My partner went to a great school owes 30,000 dollars and is now a police officer. I went to pennfoster for a year and now currelty ashworth college. a few credits away from my degree. spent less than 5000.00 and is debt free and I do the same job for the same pay. It's all out what you want to do.

This is an online school. You are expected to pace your own work. You are expected to read your book, do the chapter reviews, take notes and anything else you need to learn the material. Make no mistake, you are homeschooling yourself. If this is not for you, do not attend this school. I have enjoyed my time with this school and I feel like I have learned much from the program I'm in. I already work in corporate management for a large sized company. Admittedly, I try to utilize every chapter of every class at work the next day. The information has proven to hold incredible value in my career. This style of learning works great for me. I don't need much explanation and have to date, understood the material with out much need for assistance. When I have needed assistance, they have been available. I typicality get a response within about 5 business days. I don't mind this as I'm not in any type of time table for graduation. All of the credits from my associates degree were accepted. I had an associates degree in general science, so this was mostly general courses and not many technical classes. The books are typicality have publish dates 2-3 years prior (mostly 2), which in my program could be considered a genitive mark as far as E-Commerce and other technologically based courses go. Overall this is a non factor. I just have not had the bad experience that a few people seem to have had. If you go into this expecting a traditional education environmental, you will not have a satisfactory experience. I would recommend Ashworth College to anyone interested in continuing there education in an alternative institution. I would also include all the above information so they could make an educated decision that best meets their needs.

Be very careful reading these reviews. I got a degree from Ashworth in 2009. I have had conversations with reps. from other online schools. I couldn't believe how awful these people behave. They told me my degree was useless etc.. I had a great experience at Ashworth. And they are accredited, just becareful you READ the contract first. Susan Stone

I completed my undergrad certificate and now doing my AS in Healthcare Administration with Ashworth college. I have gone to 4 other tranditional schools before comming to Ashworth. Most poeple would assume that I couldnt make it in the traditional setting. The truth is I needed to work full time along with other obligations. Feeling discouraged I began to research online schools and quickly realized how expensive they were. When I finally found Ashworth, I couldent believe the price. The more I researched, spoke to students and enrollment staff the more I wanted to be a part of the Ashworth family. I encourage anyone that needs a second, third, or 24th chance at completing their education to consider Ashworth. Once I finish my associates degree, I will be entrolling in the bachelors in business administration. Go Knights

I just finished the schools Locksmith Program. My goal was to basically learn about locks as a hobby. My employer has a Career Development program, so they paid for it. The instructor who set up the course is one of the nations top locksmiths who has published top selling books so the basic material is good. My materials did arrive prompt. Trying to get ahold of someone to talk to was a pain. The basic drawback on any online class about locksmithing is the lack of hands on work much like a woodworking class would have. If i was super serious about being a locksmith, i would see if something like that exists. I would talk to a locksmith & get his opinion. So this course is booksmart but not streetsmart . It will be up to YOU to practice, practice & practice installation, pin changing, lockpickng, etc. This course is a FOUNDATION course. After completion & practice it's quite normal to have a two year apprenticeship with a locksmith before getting a license. Overall, i would rate my experience as a "B." Some of the material like swipecards was lacking. Even some of the auto material is from the 1990's.

I really enjoyed this school. Yes the customer service sucks sometimes, but that's no different from other places. JP Morgan Chase recognized this school as accredited and paid my tuition. Once I graduated with my associate's in accounting, I was promoted. It was a very conveinent for me also. I have three kids that keep me very busy, and being able to pursue my education at my own pace is awesome. I just signed up for their bachelor's program and I am ready for the ride.
